Bolt.new

<p>Bolt.new turns natural language into deployable full-stack web apps — frontend, backend, database, and all — in seconds, powered by Claude and running entirely in your browser.</p>

<h3>From prompt to prototype in seconds</h3>
<p>Bolt.new uses Claude-powered agents to parse your natural language request and scaffold a complete project: a React frontend, Node.js backend, database schema, and all the wiring between them. The WebContainer runtime means it all spins up in your browser tab — no Docker, no cloud build queues, no waiting for containers to boot.</p>
<p>I tested three complexity levels. A simple task app with auth worked cleanly on the first try and deployed to a live URL in about 5 minutes total. Adding Stripe payments required one follow-up prompt to wire in the environment variables correctly. The ambitious multi-tenant dashboard, however, revealed the limits: hot-reload became sluggish, the preview frame occasionally blanked out during complex state changes, and my token balance dropped noticeably faster than expected.</p>

8, 9, 7, 8, 7, 8, Fastest path from prompt to live full-stack app. Open source, generous free tier, and one-click deploy are standout strengths. Token costs during debugging and WebContainer limits on complex builds are the main trade-offs.

Full-stack generation from prompts; Real-time live preview in WebContainers; Built-in database, authentication, and Stripe payments; GitHub sync; Figma import (2026); AI image editing with Nano Banana; Team templates; Autonomous debugging v2; One-click publishing with SEO-ready output.

Rapid full-stack prototyping from natural language; In-browser IDE with WebContainers; Built-in database, auth, and payments; One-click deploy; Open source codebase; Modern stack (React, Node.js, PostgreSQL); Generous free tier with 1M tokens/month; 2026 upgrades include Figma import and autonomous debugging.

Token costs add up during debugging loops; Preview instability on complex/large apps in WebContainers; Bolt branding on free-tier hosted sites; 100MB upload cap on Pro; Not a replacement for production-grade deployments.

Lovable for polished AI web app builds; Replit for browser IDE with Agent mode; v0.dev for React UI generation; Cursor for AI-first code editing; GitHub Copilot for AI pair programming.
